The
Old Church is a wonderful building bursting with character, from
stained glass windows to oak panelling. The view from the fabulous
picture window in the lounge is glorious as you can see. The house
a large lounge with Sky TV, DVD recorder/player, stereo and plenty
of books. The kitchen has a living area off it with further seating
where you can doze by the impressive wood burning stove. There is
also a dining table in the kitchen area for those who prefer to
dine informally. The cooking facilities are excellent - there is
a double electric oven with hob, fridge, microwave, food processor,
mixer, loads of pans etc. There is also a fridge freezer, dishwasher,
washing machine and tumble drier (some being located in the adjacent
utility room). There is a large dining room with a solid oak table,
lovingly restored pew and a bespoke sofa bed which converts to a
double bed. There is a bathroom with WC, basin and bath and a small
bedroom with bunk beds. Upstairs there are three further bedrooms,
one with a king size bed and two others that can be used a two single
or king size beds. This means that the house can accommodate up
to 10 people. There is another bathroom with a fabulous shower.
All heating, lighting and fuel
costs are included in the tariffs shown. Bedding, towels and
tea towels are all provided. We will also ensure that tea,
coffee, sugar and milk are provided on arrival to help you recover
from your journey! Small welcome gifts of local produce will
also await your arrival.
Pets are very welcome. The Old
Church has a fully enclosed garden so your dogs shouldn't be able
to get too friendly with the Highland Cows in the next field!!
Ardvasar is a lovely little village
which has its own post office, village store and community centre.
Most importantly there is the Ardvasar Hotel just along the road
(about 50 paces we think) where you can be assured of a very warm
welcome from Richard and his staff. The hotel has a restaurant,
beer garden and also serves bar meals. There is often live music
at the weekends.
To find Ardvasar follow the A850
from the Kyle of Lochalsh, turn left at Broadford on to the A851
and follow the road for 14 miles. The right turn to Ardvasar is
just opposite the Bay pottery, one mile from Armadale ferry pier. |
